Phytola has significantly enhanced its industry-related experience and expertise with four recent additions to its Management Advisory Board.
Joining the Board are Mr. Gregor Beck (flax producer and former Board Member, SaskFlax), Mr. Don Macyk (Chairman, Alberta Agricultural Products Marketing Council), Mr. Mark Matlock (Senior Vice President, Research, Archer Daniels Midland), and Mr. Ward Toma (General Manager, Alberta Canola Producers Commission).
The new members bring a wealth of experience across a range of stakeholder groups complementing the Board’s existing strengths in areas of government funded research, value-added investment, and agricultural biotechnology.
Phytola has also moved to create a Scientific Advisory Committee to guide development of the organization’s technical program. This new Board is headed by Dr. Rachael Scarth (Associate Vice President, Research Operations, University of Victoria) who will serve as Chair and lead the recruitment of other prominent scientists.
Phytola Scientific Director Dr. Randall Weselake comments that, “the new members add significant industry experience to our Board and Phytola will benefit from their insights. In addition, a Scientific Advisory Committee will ensure our research activities remain relevant.”
